DHAKA, Sept 6, 2024 (BSS) - The family members of martyrs, injured and crippled students of mass upsurge today opened a photo exhibition at Drik Gallery featuring some significant pictures on the historical phases of the mass upsurge.
Marking its 35th founding anniversary, Drik gallery arranged a 16-day exhibition titled 'Buk Petesi, guli Kor' (Shoot, we opened our arms wide) with the theme 'the fearless courage of youth and Dictator Hasina's fall' which will continue till September 21 each day from 3pm to 8pm.
Soon after opening the exhibition, people from all races and ages and foreigners were seen visiting the exhibition and taking pictures along with chatting with others pointing at some of the pictures.
"Along with publishing a book, we have plans to make a movable museum featuring the picture which can allow people from all strata of life to visit across the country," said Photographer and Drik Founder Shahidul Alam.
Before opening the exhibition, a discussion remembering the heroes was held at the auditorium of Drik gallery which was addressed by the martyr's family members, injured student and a coordinator of Anti Discrimination Student Movement.
Conducted by journalist and researcher Dr Soydia Gulrukh, the discussion was addressed by Dhaka Times journalist Hasan Mehedi's wife Farhana Islam Popy, injured student Saifuddin Emdad, Coordinator of Eden Mohila College Shahinur Sumi and martyr Farhan Faiyaaz's aunt Nazia Khan.
While addressing the discussion, the martyr's family members were bursting into tears remembering their beloved one.
"We have nothing to lose anymore as we have lost everything. All we want is to see the trail of the murderers and it is the only reason that makes us still alive", said Nazia Khan, aunt of Farhan Faiyaaz, student of Residential Model School and College who was killed on July 17.
"We, the martyr's family members, want nothing from the state but the trail of the murderers", she added.
"They killed my husband in a planned way as they kept shooting and hitting him with their boots on his arms until he lost his consciousness", said Farhana Islam Popy, wife of Dhaka Times journalist Hasan Mehedi.
"I have two daughters. My husband wanted to make my elder one a doctor and thus, he wanted to admit her to a renowned school next year. I don't know how we will survive or how I will make his dream true", Popy added.
