Met office predicts rain in all 8 divisions

DHAKA, Sept 7, 2024 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorological Department today predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over two divisions, at a few places over five divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur division with moderately heavy falls at places over two divisions of the country in the next 24 hours commencing 9 am today.

"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, at a few places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna and Barishal divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur division with moderately heavy falls at places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions", said the weather bulletin issued here this morning.
    
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it added.

The low over west central Bay and adjoining Northwest Bay persists. It is likely to intensify. The axis of monsoon troughs runs through Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh.

Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay, the bulletin added.

Country's maximum temperature on Friday was recorded 36.5 degree Celsius jointly at Bogura, Tarash, Sylhet and minimum temperature today was recorded 24.4 degree Celsius at Sandwip.

Maximum rainfall for the last 24hours till 6am today was recorded 96 millimeters (mm) at Sandwip.

The sun sets today at 06:10 pm and tomorrow's sunrise at 05:43 am in the capital.
