DHAKA, Sept 10, 2024 (BSS) – The government appointed Major Gen (retired) Emdad Ul Bari as the new chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC).

A gazette notification to the effect was issued today by the Ministry of Public Administration.

The notification said: “Under Section 7(1) and 9(2) of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulation Act, 2001, Major General (Retd.) Md Emdad Ul Bari has been appointed to the post of Chairman in the management and administration category of the BTRC on the condition of severing working relationships with other institutions and organisations.”

The government has appointed Bari for a three-year term from the date of his joining. Other terms and conditions of the appointment will be fixed through an approved contract, the notification added.

Former BTRC chairman Mohiuddin Ahmed resigned on August 14 amid widespread reshuffles and transfers in the top positions of many government agencies following the change in power.
