CHATTOGRAM, Sept 14, 2024 (BSS)-Two more shipyard workers injured in the explosion at SN Corporation ship breaking yard at Sitakunda on September 7 last died at Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute early today.

With the deaths, the total fatality from explosion reached to five, police said.

The dead persons were identified as Jahangir Hawlader, 45, and Barkatullah, 23.

Jahangir and Barkatullah admitted to the hospital with 70 and 55 percent burn injuries respectively.

Jahangir's niece Khairul Sheikh, 21, Ahmed Ullah, 38 and Al Amin, 23,  died earlier in this incident, Sitakunda thana police said.

The explosion occurred at SN Corporation shipbreaking yard under Sitakunda upazila at around 11:40am on September 7.

A total of 12 workers were admitted at Chattogram Medical College Hospital following the explosion. Among them eight injured persons were shifted later to Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in Dhaka.
