DHAKA, Sept 18, 2024 (BSS)- Former Rupganj Upazila Vice Chairman Mizanur Rahman has been placed on a two-day remand in an extortion case filed with city’s Khilkhet thana.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider passed the order in presence of the accused this morning.

Investigating officer of the case, Khilkhet Thana Inspector Md Ashikur Rahman Dewan sought a ten day remand. But, the court granted two-day remand in the case filed by one Mahbub Rahman on April 30 this year.

The plaintiff said the accused on April 28 illegally trespassed in his property with some miscreants and vandalized it.

The accused also threatened him to pay Taka five crore, the plaintiff said.

Police detained Mizanur on September 17 from Bhatra area of the capital.
