Hasina, 3 ex CECs sued in Ctg Sedition case  

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 18, 2024 (BSS)- A sedition case has been filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and three former Chief Election Commissioners (CECs) in Chattogram for conducting illegal and fraudulent elections during the Awami League government's tenure.

Freedom fighter Ekramul Karim, former general secretary of City BNP, filed the case with the court of Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate-6 Kazi Shariful Haque .

Plaintiff lawyer advocate Kofil Uddin said the court took compliant into cognizance and ordered the police to investigate the charges.

Former Chief Election Commissioners (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed, KM Nurul Huda, Kazi Habibul Awal, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Road Transport and Bridges minister and AL general secretary Obaidul Quader were, among others, sued for fraud and sedition charges. 

Kofil Uddin said many popular political leaders of the opposition parties could not participate in the last three elections.

General people were deprived of exercising their voting rights. The administrative officials, including three CECs, election commissioners conducted the polls violating the constitution.
