DHAKA, Sept 19, 2024 (BSS) – A court here today issued a ban on foreign travel of former fisheries and livestock minister SM Rezaul Karim.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Ash Shams Zaglul Hossain passed the order upon a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for the sake of conducting a fair enquiry into his huge assets acquired illegally.
ACC director and investigation officer Monayem Sarker filed the application seeking a court order against his foreign tour as he might flee the country with illegally amassed money and important documents that could hamper the enquiry.
The commission’s enquiry has found that SM Rezaul allegedly earned huge public money after his and his family members’ names through irregularities and corruption beyond known sources of income by misusing the state power. The ACC has found that Rezaul acquired huge movable and immovable properties of crores of money after his and his family members’ names at Najirpur of Pirojpur and Dhaka.
