DHAKA, Sept 21, 2024 (BSS) - The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court
here today granted two days remand to two police constables for their alleged
involvement in creating anarchy in the police department through their
Facebook posts.
A team of the Detective Branch (DB), after two terms remand, today produced
constable Shohaibur Rahman of Jashore Police Lines and constable Sajib Sarkar
of Rajarbagh Police Lines before the court of Metropolitan Magistrate (MM)
Arfatul Rakib with a prayer for five more days remand.
The lawyers of the accused opposed the prayer and pleaded for their bail.
But, the prosecution side opposed the bail petition and prayed for remand.
The court heard both the sides and granted two more days remand rejecting the
bail petition.
Earlier, on September 16, MM Mosharaf Hossain granted them three days remand
and another two days on September 19 for further investigation in this
connection.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Amit Hasan Mahmud of Shahjahanpur Thana filed a case
against Shohaibul and Sajib on September 16 alleging that they were involved
in creating anarchy in the department through various posts and comments in
their Facebook identities from August 6 to September 15.
They, along with their accomplices, were also involved in creating confusion,
hatred and communal flare up by disseminating false, fabricated information
and rumours among the people by using their Facebook posts.
