DHAKA, Sept 22, 2024 (BSS) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former Member of Parliament (MP) Mia Golam Parwar today called upon the interim government to include at least two Alems, Islami scholars, in the national textbook review and revision committee.
“The education ministry has recently announced the national textbook review and revision committee through a notification. We have noticed that no Alem was included in the committee. So, we are calling upon authorities to included two Alems one each having Alia and Kawmi education backgrounds in the committee on behalf of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami,” he said in a statement today.
Expressing his concern as no Islami scholar or knowledgeable Alem was included in this important committee of the country where 92 percent population is Muslim, he said the last anti-Islamic government had included many anti-Islamic Tahjib-Tamuddin issues during its last 17-year rule, which in no way can be accepted in the country of 92 percent Muslims.
Many anti-Muslim and matters of atheism had been included in the national textbooks as part of the wide-ranging conspiracy, he added.
“Alems and Islamic scholars have voiced concern thorough speeches and statements against such moves at different times. But the fascist government did not pay any heed to the concern,” he said.
