Prof Parwar, 48 Jamaat men acquitted in two cases in Khulna

KHULNA, Sept 24, 2024 (BSS) – A court here today acquitted the secretary general of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh and former lawmaker Prof. Mia Golam Parwar and 49  Jamaat men of  the cases , filed against them under special power act, sabotage and explosives  as allegations  bought against them  were not proved.

Neela Karmokar, Additional District and Session judge Court of Khulna, acquitted them of the charges in presence of the accused including Prof Mia Golam Parwar after examining 19 witnesses.

Md Abu Yousuf Molla, lawyer of the   accused, said police filed a case with Dumuria Police Station against 18 persons including Mizanur Rahman and others unidentified   after recovered a bomb and Islamic books from Bamondia area of Dumuria upazila before general election in 2018.

Later, Golam Parwar was shown arrested in this case and later landed in Jail.

On December 20, 2018, police pressed charge sheet before the court against 50 persons including Parwar in two cases showing 30 witnesses.

Later, the court dropped Mowlana Isahaq Ali, the then Ameer of Dumuria upazila unit of Jamaat as he died during the trial.

Another lawyer of Khulna Judge Court Shafiqul Islam Liton said, court acquitted all the accused of false cases, filed by police in cooperation with Awami Legue leaders were not proved.

Expressing satisfaction over the verdict Prof Mia Golam Parwar said the cases were political and motivated. He also hoped that he would get true get justice in all false cases, filed against him during Awami League government tenures.

Later, Prof Golam Parwar was received with bouquet  by the leaders of Khulna District Bar Association as he visited  the BAR office.
