DHAKA, Sept 25, 2024 (BSS) - Journalist Mozammel Haque Babu was shown arrested today in connection with a murder case lodged with the city's Badda Police Station during the student-mass upsurge.

In presence of the accused before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arafatul Rakib this morning, the Investigating Officer (IO) sought to show him arrested in Touhidul Islam Bhuiyan murder case.

Touhidul was shot in front of Buddha Mandir area in Merul Badda of the capital on July 19. Being critically injured, he was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later on July 21.

His wife Ismat Jahan filed a case in this regard with Badda Police Station against 113 including the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

Earlier, around 6 am on September 16, journalists Mozammel Haque Babu and Shyamol Dutta were caught by locals from Dakshin Maizpara and Porakandulia border area in Dhobaura upazila of Mymensingh district.

Later, the duo was handed over to the Dhobaura Police Station.

Babu was put on a 7-day remand in Liza Akhter murder case on September 17.
