City corporations strengthen anti-mosquito drive

DHAKA, Sept 25, 2024 (BSS)- Dhaka south and north city corporations have strengthen their anti-mosquito drive in the backdrop of increasing dengue prevalence in the city.

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has carried out special cleansing and mosquito eradication drive in the Ward-10 today, a release of the corporation said.
 
The health and conservancy departments of DSCC conducted combing operations in different wards side by side with its regular anti-mosquito drive.

As many as 127 cleaning workers of the DSCC conducted larviciding and adulticiding campaign in different wards to destroy the breeding sites of the mosquito.

Authorities of the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) are also carrying out anti-mosquito drive two times a day aimed at preventing dengue breakout in the areas under its jurisdiction.

The DNCC conducting mosquito control drive in all wards in the morning and afternoon, a DNCC press release said.

The activities of the DNCC include- creating public awareness, destroying mosquito breeding grounds, conducting cleaning operations and killing larva and adult mosquitoes.

In the last 24 hours a total of 801 patients were diagnosed with dengue infection out of which 153 were from DSCC areas and 57 from DNCC areas.
