DHAKA, Sept 25, 2024 (BSS) – Police today arrested former Member of Parliament (MP) from Lakshmipur-1 MA Awal from the city’s Kalabagan area this afternoon in connection with a cheating case. 

“We have arrested Awal, also managing director (MD) of Havelly Property Ltd, from the office of the Havelly Group office at Sultana Tower at Kalabagan in connection with a fraudulence case at 5pm today,” deputy commissioner of the media and public relations wing of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md Talebur Rahman told BSS.

A team of Kalabagan Police Station arrested Awal along with Nabakumar, an accountant of the property, following a court order passed today in connection with the cheating case. 

Awal, Nabakumar and several others were made accused in the case filed with Kalabagan Police Station.

Former Secretary General of Bangladesh Tarikat Federation, Awal was elected lawmaker of Laxmipur-1 constituency in January 5, 2014.
