Diamond World MD on six-day remand

DHAKA, Sept 26, 2024 (BSS) - A court has placed Dilip Kumar Agarwala, managing director of Diamond World, on a six-day remand in connection with a case filed over the murder of 16-year-old Hridoy Ahmed during the anti-discrimination student movement in the capital's Badda area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mosharraf Hossain passed the order today as police produced him before the court seeking a 10-day remand.
 
On September 3, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Dilip from his office in the city's Gulshan area.
 
According to the case details, BNP activist Hridoy Ahmed, 16, was shot dead in front of BRAC University in Badda on July 19 while he was taking part in the mass uprising movement on July 19.
 
Sahadat Hossain, joint secretary of Shibchar Upazila of Madaripur district unit of the BNP, filed the case accusing 161 persons, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, in this connection.
