DHAKA, Sept 28, 2024 (BSS) – A court here today sent former Rail Minister Nurul Islam Sujan to jail.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehera Mahbub sent Sujan to the jail when police produced him before the court seeking an order to keep him in jail in connection with a case filed over killing Rafiqul Islam during the mass-uprising.
The police earlier arrested Sujan from a hospital at Shyamoli on September 16 and the following day he was produced before the court with five days remand over killing a student named Imran Hasan. The court granted three days remand.
His lawyer pleaded bail saying that the apex court has already heard his bail petition in the case and keeps it for order. The court suspended his remand after hearing both the prosecution and defence this afternoon.
Police later filed a petition for seeking 10 days remand for Sujan after showing him arrested in the Rafiqul Islam murder case. The court shown him arrested in the case.
Earlier on September 22, the court granted five days remand for him in the case.
