One more death row convict held in city 

DHAKA, Sept 30, 2024 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) today arrested one more death row convict from Mohammadpur in the capital city.

“We detained  Tofa Molla,  a death sentence awarded convict from Mohammadpur area this evening,” RAB media and legal wing director Lt. Col. Munim Ferdous told BSS. 
 
Tofa fled the Kahismpur High Security Central Jail in an attempt to break jail on August 6 last, he said.

The arrestee would be handed over to police, he said. 
   
   On September 24, RAB arrested three convicted accused, wanted in two for death sentences and one for 30 years in imprisonment, who fled from the jails, in Jashore, Barishal and Sherpur districts.

The arrestees are a Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) soldier Saiful Islam, Sohel Rana and Ahmed Ali. 

They were arrested from Jashore, Satmail area of Barishal and Nalitabari of Sherpur district respectively on September 24. 

Saiful was a death row convict in a case, filed in connection with the BDR mutiny while Sohel was another death row convict and Ahmed was sentenced for 30 years in imprisonment in a rape case. 

RAB earlier arrested two death row convicts, Shah Alam and Firoz Mia, from Kishoreganj Sadar and Dhaka's Dhamrai areas on last Friday and yesterday. Both fled from the Kashimpur High Security Central Jail.  

Lt. Col.  Munim Ferdous told BSS that they are now out to haunt  down to apprehend the death row and life term awarded convicts, who fled from various jails in recent times.
