DHAKA, Sept 30, 2024 (BSS) - Home Adviser Lt. Gen. Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd) today said the visa process for the foreign tourists would be made easy to lure them to visit Bangladesh.
"Tourism is one of the potential sectors of our country. We will make visa process for foreign tourists to draw their attention to tour Bangladesh. If required, measures will be taken to change the policy to this end after convening an inter-ministry meeting," he said.
The home adviser made the remarks when a delegation of European Bangladesh Federation of Commerce & Industry (EBFCI) led by Dr Wali Tasar Uddin, a Bangladeshi-born British entrepreneur, paid a courtesy call on the home adviser at the latter's Secretariat office here.
Describing expatriate Bangladeshis as an asset for the country, he said, "They have a great role in making overall development of Bangladesh."
He told the Bangladeshi expatriates that the country belongs to all, saying, "The country is belongs to you all and mine also. We have to build the country together."
The adviser has sought cooperation from the Bangladeshi expatriates to bring back the siphoned off money into the country.
He also called for cooperation from the expatriate Bangladeshis to help mechanize the agriculture of Bangladesh and investment in the country's agriculture sector.
