DHAKA, Oct 1, 2024 (BSS) - Detective police today arrested former secretary of the Election Commission (EC) and Home Ministry and master of the so called dummy election Md Jahangir Alam from the city's Gulshan area.

"We arrested former secretary of home and EC Secretariat Jahangir Alam from Gulshan around 11:30am today," Rezaul Karim Mallick, additional commissioner of Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) told BSS.

Jahangir was accused of a number of criminal cases with different police stations, he said.

"We have so far got 10 cases against him and the number of cases may rise," he also said.

The police are now taking preparation to place the arrestee before the court in the afternoon, he added.
