Dictator's beneficiary factory owners behind destabilizing garment industry: Rizvi

DHAKA, Oct 1, 2024 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed today said the unrest in the ready-made garment industry is basically a portrayal of planned conspiracies of the factory owners who were benefited by the fallen dictator.

"The beneficial owners of the fallen government have been carrying out attacks on factories owned by the neutral or BNP-supported people in a planned way to make the student-people revolution a failed one", Rizvi told a programme in front of the BNP central office today.

Rizvi said the people who have been hatching conspiracies were highly benefited during the Awami League-led autocratic government. "We have enough information about them. There are some factory owners who were even members of parliament during the Awami regime," he added.

Not just in the garment sector, the same thing is happening almost in each sector by the agents of fascism hidden in administration and all other influential bodies, Rizvi said, adding, "How huge chaos and unrest were brought out in the CHT area centering on a tiny incident".

The previous government has made the cities and localities as the centers of oppression by their MPs, mayors of municipalities, upazila chairmans and union parishad chairmans, Rizvi said.

"The parts of the oppressors still remain in different levels of the country. Everyone has been supporting the interim government that came out from the July-August revolution," he said, questioning why the interim government has not removed the UP chairmen yet.

Rizvi said Sheikh Hasina's followers in various places of the administration are playing games in disguise and waiting for the right time to carry out attacks. They are secretly hatching conspiracies to disrupt the functioning of the interim government, administration and democratic forces, he added.

Organised by 'Amra BNP Paribar', the programme was also addressed by BNP Chairperson's special assistant Advocate Shamsur Rahman, convener of 'Amra BNP Paribar' Atikur Rahman Ruman and member Sheikh Robiul Awal Robi.

Later, on behalf of party acting chairman Tarique Rahman, Rizvi Ahmed handed over the keys and documents of a new battery-run auto-rickshaw to rickshaw driver Saidul Islam, who was injured during the student-led mass upsurge.
