BGB arrests 12 Bangladeshis while illegally entering country from India through Roumari frontier 

DHAKA, Oct 2, 2024 (BSS) – Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today detained 12 Bangladeshis while returning illegally from India without any valid documents through Char Boalmari area of Roumari border in Kurigram. 

“The BGB members of the Goitapara BOP patrol under Jamalpur 35 BGB Battalion apprehended 12 Bangladeshi citizens from Char Boalmari, approximately 100 yards from Border Pillar 1058/MP, while they were returning to the country illegally from India at about 5 am today,” said a BGB release signed by its Jamalpur Battalion Commander Lt Col Hasanur Rahman.  

The detainees are: Md Ashraful Alam (26), Md Monir Hossain (38), Tofazzal Hossain (29), Md Waliullah (25), Md Obaidi Hasan (22), Nabi Hossain (26), Forkan Ali (31), Hazrat Ali (36), Shafiqul Islam (25), Manik Mia (29), Arif Hossain (36) and Mizanur Rahman (23).

During the interrogation, the detainees told the BGB that they illegally went to India for doing work about 3-6 months back with the help through brokers, the release added.

The BGB handed them over to the Roumari police station for legal action.
