DHAKA, Oct 2, 2024 (BSS) - Home Ministry today issued a set of directives for local administrations and law enforcement agencies to keep the law and order normal during the Durga Puja celebration.
The public security division of the home ministry issued an office memo signed by senior assistant secretary Md Zahirul Haque today in this regard.
The directives have been issued following the second meeting of the adviser's council committee on law and order on Tuesday with home adviser in the chair.
The directives include visible patrol by police, RAB, Ansar and VDP will be strengthened and surveillance of intelligence will be enhanced. To maintain law and order members of the armed forces deployed in the field will provide necessary cooperation to this end.
Prior preparations should be taken to check any untoward incident. Effective measures should be taken immediately along with all concerned if any unexpected incident takes place.
Local administration and law enforcement agencies along with all concerned will have to visit puja mandaps marking the Durga Puja.
Cautionary measures should be taken to prevent spreading of any derogatory comment or rumour on social than can hurt religious sentiment.
Concerned puja udjapan committees will have to deploy required number of volunteers and guards (at least three persons in day time and four persons at night by rotation) to ensure security at puja mandaps round the clock.
Close Circuit Television Cameras (CCTVs) will have to be installed at each puja mandaps.
Monitoring committees should be formed comprising of leading figures of the society and representatives of student along with members of Hindu community for ensuring security of puja mandaps.
Deputy Commissioners will form such committees at district level while Upazila Nirbahi Officers at upazila level.
Durga Puja will begin on October 9 with Maha Sasthi across the country this year.
The puja will end on October 13 on Bijoy Dashami with the immersion of idols.
