DHAKA, Oct 4, 2024 (BSS) - Injured people and students from different
universities under the banner 'Empowering our fighters' today placed a six-
point demand regarding the treatment and rehabilitation of wounded people in
the student-led mass upsurge.
Mentioning people's sufferings in hospitals, the students at a press
conference at the auditorium of Dhaka University Central Students' Union
(DUCSU), demanded to ensure complete treatment of each wounded person under
government supervision as well as to ensure a dignified life and
rehabilitation.
A dedicated government body must be formed to send the injured people abroad
for treatment avoiding delay or bringing medical equipment and hiring doctors
from abroad, said the platform's organizing secretary 'Sakibur Rahman Rony
while reading out a written statement
Government's special allocation must be ensured to the hospitals and
concerned affiliated institutions along with bringing overall reformation in
the health sector, Sakibur added.
The six-point demand also includes presenting a feasible roadmap through
short and long term measures for materialising the aspirations of student-
people mass uprising and holding open dialogue on a regular basis between the
government and student-people.
Despite governments clear instruction to minimize bills, private hospitals
seem not to be considerate while some government hospitals have reportedly
lacked sincerity in treating the patients, said the students while presenting
their seven-point observations.
Without ensuring adequate financial allocation, the government asked the
hospitals to ensure free treatment to the movement-injured patients and thus,
they are carrying out treatment with donations and other private
arrangements, it added.
The press conference was also addressed by Edul Foysal, Koli Kayez and
student-movement injured Mohammad Sharif, Motiur Rahman, Israfil Majumder, Al
Amin and Saiful Islam.
