DHAKA, Oct 5, 2024 (BSS) - As part of the ongoing drive against the illegal firearms and criminals, the members of the Bangladesh Navy in a predawn drive detained two drug peddlers with yaba tablets, local weapons and Taka in cash from Katenga area in Khulna.
“The navy today apprehended Md Mejba Uddin and Md Baharul Shikdar from Katenga area of Barasat Union under Terokhada Upazila in Khulna district,” said a press release of the Directorate of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) this evening.
“Yaba tablets, 2.2 kgs of ganja, local liquor, domestic weapons like nine big knives (ramdas), one knife and eight ballams (spears), Tk 35,690 in cash and 11 mobile phone sets were seized from their possession,” it said.
They were handed over to the Terokhada police station along with the recovered illegal weapons and the contraband items.
This special drive is being carried out by the naval force as a part of its regular patrolling and operations in different places under 'In Aid to Civil Power' to implement the directives of the current interim government, the release added.
