Water declines in Padma, Mohananda rivers, rises in Punarvaba

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Oct 6, 2024 (BSS) - The water level in Padma and Mohananda rivers have started receding while another river Punarvaba marks a slight rise during the last 24 hours as of 9 am today.

Water Development Board (WDB) here said water level receded 15 centimeters in Padma and one centimeter in Mohananda as water level rose one centimeter in Punarvaba during the time.

After the recession, Padma was flowing 1.27 metres below the danger level and Mohananda 1.26 metres below the danger mark while after rising, Punarvaba was also flowing 1.64 metres below the danger level, it said.

The danger level mark is 22.05 metres in Padma, 20.55 metres in Mohananda and 21.55 metres in Punarvaba.

The water level now touched 20.78m mark at Panka point in Padma, 19.29m at Khalghat point in Mohananda and 19.91m at Rohonpur point in Punarvaba, sources said.
