DHAKA, Oct 6, 2024 (BSS) – Amar Desh editor and writer Mahmudur Rahman today placed a seven-point demand including imposition of ban on Bangladesh Chhatra League as a terrorist organization within the next seven days.

“Bangladesh Chhatra League should be banned as a terrorist organisation within the next seven days. If no action is taken within this deadline, strong movement will be staged on the road,” he said while speaking at a view-exchange meeting with journalists at Jatiya Press Club here.

He also demanded taking immediate steps to send those who were injured in the Anti-Discrimination Student movement abroad for better treatment.

For ensuring better treatment of the injured persons abroad, he demanded formation of a committee comprising advisers of the ministries of health, finance, industry and public works, and political secretary to the Chief Adviser of the interim government.

Leaders of various professional organizations including Jatiya Press Club (JPC), Amar Desh Pariber, BFUJ, DUJ, Press Club Employees’ Union and others congratulated Mahmudur Rahman with flowers.

Other demands include taking steps to cancel nomination of Saima Wazed for the post of regional director for World Health Organization South-East Asia Region, naming the Jamuna Bridge after Shaheed Abu Sayeed, bringing before the nation the agreements signed with India since 2009 and renaming Bangabandhu Avenue after Shaheed Abrar Avenue.

There will be no institution after the name of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he said and demanded proper investigation into the deaths of Brigadier General Rahim and BNP leader Nasir Uddin Pintu who died in prison.

He urged the interim government to bring the cohorts of the ousted fascist government to book and said no compromise will be made with India.
Mahmudur Rahman said the Daily Amar Desh will be published again if anyone tries to hatch conspiracy against the Daily Amar Desh, the family of the Amar Desh will wage movement against it.

He said ousted Sheikh Hasina exploited the country for 16 years by making radicalism and Islamic militancy as an issue. Awami government politicized the judiciary, he added.

Mahmudur Rahman said that after the revolution of the students and the people, I did not think that the talk against the monster Hasina would decrease so quickly.
