Squadron leader Saiful Monir laid to eternal rest

DHAKA, Oct 6, 2024 (BSS) - Squadron Leader Md. Saiful Monir was laid to eternal rest with state honour on Saturday at his family graveyard in Barguna.

His namaz-e-janaza was held at his village home in Aongerpara of Barguna district, said an ISPR release today.

Squadron Leader Md. Saiful Monir passed away on Friday at the Dhaka Combined Military Hospital while undergoing treatment there. He was 33.

He left behind his wife, two daughters, relatives and numerous well-wishers to mourn his death.

Squadron Leader Md. Saiful Monir was born on November 30, 1990 in Angarpara village of Barguna district.

He joined the Bangladesh Air Force on January 1, 2008 and was commissioned in the GD (P) wing on December 1, 2009. He attained the highest award for cadets, the "Sword of Honour".

He was diagnosed with brain tumour in 2018. During his illness, he was sent to Singapore in 2018, 2022 and later to India in 2023 for advanced treatment with the initiative and funding of the Bangladesh Air Force.

His service length, after receiving the commission till his death, was 14 years and 10 months.

During his service, before illness, he served in important positions in various bases and units of the Air Force.
