Nahid urges all to remain vigil against anti-Bangladesh propaganda

DHAKA, Oct 06, 2024 (BSS) – Information and Broadcasting Adviser Md Nahid Islam today urged all to be vocal against any kind of propaganda centering Bangladesh, saying that the recent student-people uprising should be properly portrait in the media.

“Disinformation is being carried out in different international media including in Indian media centering this movement (student-people uprising),” he said.

Nahid, also in-charge of Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, was addressing a seminar titled ‘The Cross-Border Spread of Misinformation in South Asia’ at a city hotel.

He said controversy is being created about Mahfuz Alam, one of the activists of the anti-discrimination uprising and Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser of the interim government.

Indian newspaper 'Economic Times' made controversial comments about Mahfuz Alam without any evidence while Ananda Bazar also echoed same thing, the adviser added.

He said that attempts are being made to establish such propaganda in the international arena, which is not expected at all. He condemned such propaganda.
Professor Salimullah Khan and ICT Division Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury spoke at the seminar, among others.
