Country to be ‘land of joy for hangmen’ if fallen fascist rehabilitated: Rizvi

DHAKA, Oct 7, 2024 (BSS)- BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi  today said, if the fallen fascists are rehabilitated again the country would turn into a ‘land of joy for hangmen’.

“Some people are talking about rehabilitation of the fallen autocrat which gives a dangerous signal to the people. When an adviser suggests the fallen fascist to ‘make up their home’, it gives a very dangerous signal,” he said.
“If the introducer of enforced disappearance and Aynaghar are rehabilitated, the country will not remain in a state to live for common people,” he added.

Rizvi made the remarks while distributing leaflets as part of the BNP’s central programme to create awareness among people against the mosquito-borne Dengue disease at Elephant Road area in the capital city.

“Country’s democracy and the freedom of speech would jeopardize if the autocrats are rehabilitated,” Rizvi said calling upon all to remain alert against the evil design.

The BNP leader also talked about the appointment of the new foreign secretary saying “We have learnt from social media that the government is rehabilitating the cohorts of the autocrat in various ways.

“A person while serving as the ambassador of Bangladesh in Qatar used to decline renew visa of Bangladeshi expatriates as he found most of them are BNP supporters,” Rizvi alleged, saying, “now he has been made secretary of the foreign affairs.”

“So, whom you are being rehabilitated in the foreign ministry?” he asked, saying “the interim government must look into this matter to restore confidence of the people in the interim government.”

Rizvi called for finding out those, who have betrayed the country and dishonored the martyrs, their sacrifice and blood.

“It would be a sheer disrespect to the country and 1500 martyrs if a cohort of the fascist rehabilitated in such a high ranking position before completing other pending tasks like holding a fair election, administrative reform, ensuring rule of law and press freedom,” Rizvi said.
BNP Swechhasebak Affairs Secretary Mir Sharafat  Ali Sopu, Health Affairs Secretary Rafiqul Islam, assistant Health Affairs Secretary Parvez Reza Kakon, assistant Publicity Secretary Asadul Karim Shaheen, Mehbub Masum Shanta, Arifur Rahman Tusher, Dr Awal and leaders and leaders of different associate bodies were present.
