Flood situation shows signs of improvement in Netrakona

NETRAKONA, Oct 7, 2024 (BSS) - The overall flood situation in four upazilas in the district marked a slight improvement during the last 24 hours ending 6pm today due to stoppage of rainfall during the period.
 
Local administration sources said the flood has so far badly affected
over 20,000 people of 20 unions in the four upazilas -- Durgapur, Kalmakanda, Purbadhala and Netrakona sader -- in the district.
 
The administrations have opened seven flood-shelter centers in the four upazilas where 115 flood-hit people have taken shelter.

Deputy Commissioner Bonani Biswas told BSS that local administration and concerned upazila administrations jointly conducting relief operations in the flood-hit areas.
 
Meanwhile, local administration sent sixty metric tons of rice, 400 packets containers of dry food including rice, pulse, sugar, edible oil and salt and Taka four lakhs to the four Upazila Nibahi Officer (UNOs), she said.

Besides, she said, local administration also sent Taka three lakhs to the UNOs for managing foods for child and cow feed.
