Process continues to bring doctors from abroad to treat injured: Adviser

DHAKA, Oct 07, 2024 (BSS)- Health and Family Welfare Adviser to the Interim Government Nurjahan Begum today said the process is continuing to bring specialist doctors from China, Nepal, France, UK and Australia, to treat those who were injured during the student-led mass movement.

“The process to bring expert medical teams from abroad is continuing to treat severely injured persons and those lost eyesight, having leg injuries or amputations,” Nurjahan told a press conference at the Secretariat today.
 
The adviser said, China's advanced medical team has already arrived in Dhaka.

They visited the hospitals and expressed their satisfaction over the treatment.”

Besides, three expert doctors from Nepal went to the National Institute of Ophthalmology and Hospital in Dhaka under the joint initiative of Seba Foundation and Health Services Division to treat the injured persons, said the health advisor.
 
"Specialist doctors from Nepal have provided eye treatment to 192 patients and completed operations on four critical patients," she added.

A specialist doctor from France will arrive today, the adviser said, adding, orthopaedic doctors from the UK will come to Bangladesh within 15 days.

The health advisor said the committee formed to formulate policies injured persons’ treatment and preparing list of martyrs and injured persons, has already submitted a draft report and a list of martyrs and injured to the ministry.

"The list of martyred and injured persons has been published for public notice for their opinion. The list will be finalised in the shortest possible time with the feedback of the people,” she said.

Health education and family welfare secretary Dr. Md. Sarwar Bari, Director General of Health Education Department Prof. Nazmul Hossain, additional secretary of health care department ATM Saiful Islam and health ministry officials were also present on the occasion.
