DHAKA, Oct 8, 2024 (BSS) - The government has formed a seven-member film certification appeal committee under section 11 of the Bangladesh Film Certificate Act, 2023.

In this regard, a gazette notification signed by deputy secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting M Saiful Islam, was issued and also displayed on the ministry's website.

The committee will be chaired by the cabinet secretary with Information and Broadcasting secretary also chairman of Bangladesh Film Certification Board serving as convener of the committee.

Bangladesh Film Certification Board's vice-chairman will be the member secretary of the film certification appeal committee.

The other members of the committee are: Jagannath University Professor Dr Shah Mohammad Nistar Jahan Kabir, Professor (television, film and photography department) of Dhaka University Miss Habiba Rahman, documentary and filmmaker Miss Humayra Bilkis and sound editor and executive producer Masrur Rahman alias Nahid Masud.

The tenure of the committee is two years.

The appeal committee will take decision accordingly on the appeal plea lodged by the aggrieved person or the organization against the decision of the Bangladesh Film Certification Board, said the gazette.
