RAJSHAHI, Oct 8, 2024 (BSS) - Rajshahi University (RU) authority today held a reception for the newly-admitted first-year (honours) students under 2023-2024 academic session.
 
The reception was held at Kazi Nazrul Islam auditorium of the university.
 
Vice-chancellor (VC) Professor Saleh Hassan Naquib welcomed the students with flowers wishing them every success.
 
With Treasurer Prof Obayedur Rahman Pramanik in the chair, the ceremony was addressed, among others, by Faculty Deans Prof Belal Hossain and Prof Nasima Akhter, students' adviser Prof Amirul Islam, Proctor Mahbubur Rahman and Registrar Dr Shaad Ahmed.

While welcoming the students, the VC said, "The purpose of education is to acquire knowledge from reality and to utilize it for mankind."
 
He also urged them to remain on the right track as it's very much important to acquire knowledge properly.
 
Prof Saleh Hassan also reminded them to be part of building a happy and prosperous Bangladesh together with reflecting hopes and aspirations of the public in generation, particularly their respective parents.
 
This year, around 4,000 students get enrolment at 59 departments under 12 faculties and two institutions of the university.
