DHAKA, Oct 9, 2024 (BSS) - As a part to bring dynamism into the activities of police force and improve the law and order situation further, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) is set to provide 50 more cars to its police stations.
Additional Police Commissioner (logistics, finance and procurement) of the DMP Hasan Md Shawkat Ali handed over 10 cars to 10 police stations in a function held at Rajarbagh Police Lines here today.
The police stations are Uttara Purba, Gulshan, Tejgaon, Kadamtali, Jatrabari, Kamrangirchar, Sabujbagh, Khilgaon, Motijheel and New Market.
Shawkat, at the function, said, "The car is one of the major equipment for bringing dynamism into the activities of the police and maintaining the law and order situation as well."
He thanked DMP commissioner Md Mainul Hassan for taking the initiative to provide 50 new cars to the police stations.
"The dynamism in the activities of police will be enhanced further by adding cars to the DMP fleet and it will play more effective role in containing crimes," he said.
Replying to a query about the number of vehicles damaged during the mass uprising, he said that a total of 186 police vehicles were damaged during the movement. Of those, 97 were set ablaze badly, which could not be repaired.
The additional commissioner said work is going on full-fledged to repair vehicles damaged severely during the recent movement.
DMP's joint police commissioner (transport) Samsun Nahar and deputy commissioner (media and public relations) Muhammad Talebur Rahman, among others, were present.
