RAJSHAHI, Oct 10, 2024 BSS)- Access to information can be the best way for elevating living and livelihood conditions of the marginalized women and youths together with achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Free flow of information has important roles to hasten the social development process besides ensuring transparency, accountability and good governance in public offices.
However, due efforts are progressing to empower women through need-based interventions side by side with strengthening governmental and civil society institutions and expanding networks for information access.
Discussants made the observation while addressing a road show meeting for generating mass-awareness related to the access to information and the Right to Information Act along with its successful implementation in Joypurhat district town on Wednesday.
On behalf of its project titled ''Young people at high schools strengthen Women's Rights and inclusive Governance in Bangladesh (YUKTA)", DASCOH Foundation organized the road show supported by Netz Bangladesh.
After starting from Deputy Commissioner (DC) office premises, the road show consist of eight auto-rickshaws passed through different town and rural areas of Punchbibi Upazila for wide publicity of the right to information.
The show ended at the DC office premises followed by a meeting at its conference hall largely attended by government officials, teachers, students, journalists, members of civil society organizations (CSO) and members of student forums (SF).
DC Mohiuddin Jahangir, Additional DC Bipul Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Ujjal Kumar and Area Coordinator of YUKTA Project Farhana Siddique spoke on the occasion.
The meeting discussed and devised ways and means on how to ensure access to information related to the service deliveries to marginalized, disadvantaged and underprivileged women.
It also focused on delivering various public services among the marginalised community besides making them interested and inspired to the services.
