‘Kilo Flight’ fighter Corporal Rustam laid to rest with state honour

DHAKA, Oct 10, 2024 (BSS) - Valiant Freedom Fighter and ‘Kilo Flight’ member Corporal (Rtd) Md. Rustam Ali, Bir Pratik, who died this morning at Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Chhatagram, was laid to eternal rest with state honour in his hometown of Sitakunda, Chhatagram.

Earlier, the funeral parade and first Namaz-e-Janaza of ‘Kilo Flight’ member Corporal (Rtd) Md. Rustam Ali was held today at the parade ground of Bangladesh Air Force Base Zahurul Haque in Chattogram, said an ISPR press release.

On behalf of the Chief of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF), Captain of BAF Base Zahurul Haque Air Vice Marshal Haider Abdullah paid tribute to corporal (rtd) Md Rustam Mia by placing wreath at his coffin.

Rustam was accorded a guard of honour during the ceremony, attended by his family members, senior military officials, and other ranks.

After the funeral parade, valiant freedom fighter Corporal (Rtd) Rustam Ali was buried with state honors at his hometown Ghoramara village under Sitakunda upazila of Chhatagram after the second Namaz-e-Janaza.

Rustam Ali breathed his last at 8:50 am today while undergoing treatment at Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Chhatagram. He was 74.

He left behind his wife, two daughters, two sons, relatives, colleagues, a host of well-wishers and admirers to mourn his death.

For his outstanding contribution, Bangladesh government honoured Rustam with 'Bir Pratik', the fourth highest gallantry award in Bangladesh.
