DHAKA, Oct 11, 2024 (BSS) - Maha Ashtami, the third day of five-day Sharadiyo Durga Puja, celebrated at different temples since morning today in Khulna city and across the district.

In the morning, devotees performed puja and distributed prashad among the people at different temples and makeshift Puja pandals.

While visiting City’s Sonapotti Puja mandaps at Borobazar area today the BSS correspondent witnessed that a large number of devotees were performing puja followed by anjali in the morning.

Sandhi Puja, marking the beginning of Mahanavami, commenced from 11:30 AM onwards. Mahanvami will last for a day and a half till tomorrow afternoon.

Dressed in traditional red and white color sharee and panjabi, a large number of devotees were seen visiting puja pandals across the city last evening (yesterday).
Temples and mandaps have been illuminated and decorated gorgeously marking the puja as some puja pandals were portrayed in different theme signifying different aspects of life and religious stories.

Meanwhile, Khulna Divisional Commissioner and Administrator of Khulna City Corporation(KCC) Md Helal Mahmud Sharif, Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner (KMP) Zulfiqar Ali Haider and Superintendent of district police T M Mossarraf Hossain visited different puja mandaps.

Besides, leaders of different political parties also visited different puja mandaps to witness the puja celebration by the Hindu community.
