DHAKA, Oct 12, 2024 (BSS) - The 45th death anniversary of Mukundalal Sarker,
a prominent leader of anti-British Movement and a war veteran of 1971, will
be observed tomorrow.
He was born in 1909 at Dharmaryer Bari village under Muksedpur upazila of
Gopalganj district. During his long political career, he played an important
role in building a strong resistance against the imperialist forces and
actively participated in the movement against Zamindary system. He was
detained several times for his role against the British rule.
Sree Sarker was imprisoned under defense of Pakistan rule in 1965.
As part of social welfare activities, Mukundalal Sarker established several
colleges, high schools and primary schools in different areas of Gopalganj
and Khulna districts.
On the occasion, special prayers and religious ceremonies will be held at
Dharmarayer Bari village in Muksudpur. Additionally, a charitable initiative
will take place at the Highsur Old home in Kasiani upazila of Gopalganj
district to mark the day.
