DHAKA, Oct 12, 2024 (BSS) – Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today detained a joint secretary (Jnt) of the   Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat identified as AKMG Kibria Majumdar at  the Putia border area of Kasba Upazila in Brahmanbaria district.

“Kibria was detained while he was trying to flee to India illegally,” said a BGB release signed by BGB (64 No) Sultanpur Battalion Commander Lt Col AM Jaber Bi Jobbar this evening.

A person was spotted roaming about 50 yards from border pillar 2050/8S of the international border on the eve of entering India through the Putia border area inside Bangladesh, it said.

Later, during the interrogation, it was revealed that he was working as a joint secretary under the former Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury.

Subsequently, he was handed over to Kosba police station. A legal process is underway there, the release added.
