Non-communal spirit can't divide all: Rizvi

DHAKA, Oct 12, 2024 (BSS) – BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed today said division cannot be created in the country through splitting the awakening consciousness of non-communal spirit.

"The awakening non-communal spirit will not allow any division in the society. They would not be able to create the line of division they made in the name of communalism and militancy for their own interests," he said while visiting Puja mandap at Jagannath Hall on Dhaka University (DU) premise here.

BNP leader said, "This century-old festival (Sharadiya Dura Puja) has been taking place for ages. The doors of this festival are never closed. We may stand here at the altar of this festival following different religions."

He said all including Hindus, Buddhists and Muslims can stand together on the same ground during festival on the basis of communal harmony.

Rizvi said in the recent past some groups had spread the message of conflict for their own political purposes and personal interest.

That group wanted to divide all the people who were maintaining communal harmony, he added.

He urged all to remain vigilant so that no one can break the communal bond of all irrespective of caste, group and religion.

Rizvi hoped that all can celebrate the ongoing Durga Puja festival with enthusiasm and due festivity as the interim government is trying to make this festival more enjoyable.

Adviser to the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Supradip Chakma, BNP Joint Publicity Secretary Asadul Karim Shaheen, Jubo Dal leader Mehbub Masum Shanto and Chhatra Dal leaders Masudur Rahman and Raju Ahmed were present, among others, on the occasion.
