DHAKA, Oct 13, 2024 (BSS) – Amar Bangladesh (AB) Party Member Secretary Mojibur Rahman Monju today demanded trial of those involved in genocide and corruption in a special tribunal.
“Many of those who carried out genocide, oppressed the people and amassed illegal wealth through corruption are still in the country. They should be arrested immediately and brought to book,” he said.
The AB Party leader said this while exchanging views with journalists at Manoharpur in Cumilla city.
Demanding compensation for the families of those injured and killed during the student-people uprising, Monju said better treatment for the wounded people should be arranged.
Putting emphasis on national unity to tackle the future challenges, he said, “We must maintain our national unity (that was created through the student-people uprising) . . . we want to create a new Bangladesh. Everyone should come forward to build the new Bangladesh.”
AB Party Joint Member Secretary Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad replied different media queries.
AB Party joint conveners Lt. Col. (Retd) Helal Uddin and Lt. Col. (Retd) Didarul Alam, Joint Member Secretary Barrister Zubair Ahmed, Assistant Secretary Safiul Basar, Bangladesh Chhatra Pakksha Central Convener Prince Al Amin, Cumilla District AB Party Coordinator Mia Mohammad Taufiq were present at the programme, among others.
Later, Cumilla city and district convening committees were announced. Mia Mohammad Taufiq was made convener of Cumilla district unit while MA Qaium and Abu Saleh Md Masud were made member secretary and organizing secretary respectively.
Besides, GM Samdani was made convener of Cumilla city unit while Abu Sayed and Md Ismail Hossain were made member secretary and organizing secretary respectively.
