DHAKA, Oct 13, 2024 (BSS) – Police Headquarters in a statement today said that the law enforcement agency is committed to implement the hopes and aspirations of the people created through the anti-discrimination student movement.
The release said so far, 1,695 cases have been filed against those who attacked, provoked and ordered for killing the students to suppress the anti-discrimination student movement.
A total of 3,195 people including 74 high profile leaders of the then ruling party (AL) have been arrested on the basis of specific evidence of involvement in such heinous and despicable activities and action is being taken against them.
Besides, those who were engaged in various types of misdeeds, including extortion, tender and terrorist activities, with the patronization of political parties have also been arrested and legal action is being taken against them.
Noting that the students and general people who were involved in the anti-discrimination student movement have no reason to be worried, the statement said police service will be harassment free and people friendly.
“The Bangladesh Police will ensure that no one is subjected to undue harassment”, it said.
