DHAKA, Oct 15, 2024 (BSS) – A court here today showed former secretary of the Election Commission (EC) Secretariat Md Jahangir Alam arrested in a murder case and Awami League (AL) leader Adv Monwarul Islam Chowdhury Robin in five more cases lodged with different police stations.
 
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Nurul Huda passed the orders as police produced Jahangir, also the former home secretary, and Robin before the court and pleaded to show them arrested in the cases.
 
Of these, Md Jahangir Alam was shown arrested in a case lodged with Uttara West Police Station over the killing of Bangladesh Airlines Training Center (BATC) student Omor Nurul Absar, 22, during the recent anti-discrimination student movement.
 
AL leader Robin, however, shown arrested in the five cases lodged over the murder of trader Md Jasim, 30, in the Uttara House Building intersection area, the killing of Md Sagar, 19, in front of Uttara RK Tower, the killing of Wahid Miah, 27, in Uttara RAJUK Commercial Market area, attempt to murder a Dhaka University student in Uttara BNS Centre area and the killing of Jahirul Islam Shuvo, 28, on Dhaka Mymensingh Highway. All the incidents took place during the recent anti-discrimination student movement.
