DHAKA, Oct 15, 2024 (BSS) - Police today arrested two more persons on charges of firing gunshots at the anti-discrimination student movement that led to kill a shop employee Mizanur Rahman of the city’s Banosree area.
The arrested were identified as Abdur Rahman, president of Matshyajbi League and Jubo League member and Md Jahangir Hossain, vice-president of Bangladesh Shramik Paribahan Matshyajibi League.
Police arrested the duo from Khilgaon Police Station area today as their involvement in Mizanur murder was found after scrutinizing the video footages of the incident, said a police press release.
Earlier on October 3, police apprehended 74 no ward councilor of Dhaka South City Corporation Md Azizul Haque and Swechhasebak League member Md Obaidul Islam from Khilgaon Thana area on October 3 last.
The arrestees were accused in Mizanur murder case filed with Khilgaon Police Station on September 2.
According to the case details, Mizanur suffered critical bullet wounds as the Awami League and its associate leaders and activists opened indiscriminate firings at the protestors in the city's Banosree area during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on July 19 last.
He was rushed to nearby Advance Hospital from where he was taken to Pongu Hospital at Agargaon where he died of excessive bleeding.
