DHAKA, Oct 17, 2024 (BSS) - Three people including the victim's wife were convicted and sentenced to imprisonment till natural death in a case lodged over the murder of businessman Jamil Hossain in the capital in 2016.
Dhaka 6th Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Morshed Alam pronounced the judgment in the presence of convicts Mousumi, her brother-in-law Jewel Rana alias Tanvir and Shafikul Alam. The court also fined them Taka 25,000 each.
The court also sentenced one Emran Hasan alias Imran to six months in jail but was later released as he was already behind bars more than the time he was sentenced to.
According to the case documents, Jamil's wife Mousumi got involved in an extramarital affair with her brother-in-law Jewel Rana. Mousumi and Jewel Rana conspired to kill Jamil and as part of their plan, killed him by hacking and slitting his throat on May 2, 2016.
