DHAKA, Oct 17, 2024 (BSS) – A court here today sent former chairman of Fareast Life Insurance Md Nazrul Islam to jail, scraping his bail in a case lodged over embezzlement of more than Taka 816 crore.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Ash Shams Zaglul Hossain passed the order as the accused surrendered before the court and pleaded for bail.

Fareast Life Insurance’s law officer Md Jasim Uddin filed the case on September 13, 2022 with Shahbagh Police Station. The plaintiff alleged that accused MA Khalek and Md Nazrul Islam embezzled the money during their tenure in company’s board.
