Fascist Sheikh Hasina’s target was to launder money abroad: Rizvi

DHAKA, Oct 19, 2024 (BSS) – Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed today said fascist Sheikh Hasina’s target was not to serve the people rather her was to loot public money and launder money abroad.

“Awami League backed syndicates looted people’s thousands of crores of money by making manpower syndicates. If anyone talked against Sheikh Hasina or her family, he or she was sent to jail,” he said.

Rizvi was addressing as the chief guest a leaflet distribution and mass-contact programme for raising consciousness to prevent dengue in the capital’s Jurain area.

Former lawmaker Salah Uddin Ahmed, BNP Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rafiqul Islam and Assistant Health Affairs Secretary Dr Parvez Reza Kakan spoke as the special guests while BNP leader Engineer Ishraque Hossain spoke as the main speaker.

BNP’s Dhaka City South unit leader Tanvir Ahmed Robin and Mehebub Masum Shanto also spoke.

About the price hike of essentials, the BNP leader said extortion of Taka 50 crore takes place in Karwar Bazar every night that is the main reason of soaring essential commodity price in the city.
He urged the government to break the syndicate to reduce the price of essentials.

About the repression during the fascist Sheikh Hasina’s regime, Rizvi said every jail of the country was “Aynaghar” of Sheikh Hasina as those who talked against her or in favor of democracy, were kept confined there.

Not only BNP leaders and workers but also the people who raised voice in favour of democracy faced repression and torture, he added.

Rizvi said the people are now breathing fresh air after ousting the fascist Awami League but black money of AL miscreants are still in hands of some wrongdoers who are resorting to sabotage and will do so in future too.

“We have alerted earlier that Awami League and Chhatra League men are still in different government agencies,” he said.

The BNP leader said AL is making evil efforts to destroy Rural Electrification Board (REB) because proclaimer of independence Shaheed  President Ziaur Rahman established it.

About the recent unrest in REB, he said they shutdown 50 rural power centers in support of their demands and questioned why they didn’t do so during the Hasina regime.

“You may have logical demands but why did you close down power centres for whose interest? Do you want Hasina’s return? Do you want to loot Bangladesh Bank and Basic Bank?” he said.
Rizvi urged the interim government to hold elections quickly after making required reforms.

“We have fought for fair elections for 16 years. Our demand is that whoever is elected that doesn’t matter.

People’s power should be returned to people,” he said.
