Giving opportunity to fascism means dishonoring July martyrs: Kader Goni

CHATTOGRAM, Oct 19, 2024 (BSS) - Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Member Secretary Kader Gani Chowdhury said giving opportunity to fascism means dishonoring the blood of hundreds of martyrs.

He said the roots of fascism still remained even though the fascists fled the country.
“If we cannot eliminate it completely, we will not be able to achieve our goals,” he added.

Kader Gani said these while speaking at a discussion meeting on 'Media and Fascism after 5th July of Bangladesh' organized by Chattogram Metropolitan Union of Journalists (CMUJ) on Saturday morning.

Kader Gani Chowdhury said people know who are the agents of fascism.
“Most of the journalists who went to the press conference of the then Prime Minister, praised her but did not ask any questions. They did so to take advantage from the government,” he added.

“Innocent students were killed indiscriminately during the anti-discrimination movement. There will be no compromise with those who are agents and brokers of fascism,” he said.

“A section of journalists and editors have destroyed the dignity of our journalism profession. They have taken advantage from the fascists. An honest journalist can never compromise with fascism,” he added.

CMUJ President Mohammad Shah Nowaz presided over the function while senior journalist and board member of Chattogram Development Authority Zahidul Karim Kochi, Daily Kaler Konto Bureau Chief Mustafa Nayem, senior journalists Abdullah Al Mahmud, Mainuddin Quadri Shawkat, Saiful Islam and Rafiqul Islam Selim, among others, spoke at the function.

Later, a special prayer was offered for eternal peace of the soul of late BFUJ president Ruhul Amin Ghazi.
