DHAKA, Oct 20, 2024 (BSS) – Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources Nazmul Ahsan today said that the river banks damaged by the recent floods in Sherpur will be repaired on priority basis.

"The banks of Maharashi, Bhogai and Chellakhali rivers affected by the recent floods in Sherpur's Jhenaigati and Nalitabari upazilas will be repaired on a priority basis during the next dry season and permanent steps will be taken to deal with the floods," he said.

On the instructions of Water Resources Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan, the secretary said this while visiting the areas affected by river erosion in Ramerkura and Brijpara of Jhenaigati Sadar upazila, North Garkanda village, Kulpara and Nichpara village's temples and Shoshanghat area of Nalitabari upazila and Sannyasi vita village from Chellakhali market of Baghber union, according to an official release.
