DHAKA, Oct 20, 2024 (BSS) – A court here today placed Rashedul Kawser Bhuiyan Jibon, former assistant private secretary (APS) of former law minister Anisul Huq, on five-day remand in a case lodged over murder of BNP activist Md Mokbul.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sanaullah passed the order as police produced Jibon, also the former chairman of Kasba upazila in Brahmanbaria, and pleaded to place him on 10-day remand in the case.
Police arrested Rashedul Kawser Bhuiyan Jibon from the capital on October 19.
According to the case documents, BNP leaders and activists as part of their party program on December 10, 2022, began to gather in the capital. Marking the programme, police and AL men created ruckus in front of the BNP headquarters in Naya Paltan on December 7. They entered the BNP office and charged baton and opened fire at the BNP men, injuring Mokbul critically.
Mokbul later died from his injuries at the hospital. The case was filed on September 30, 2024, with the capital’s Paltan Police Station.
