GAIBANDHA, OCT 22, 2024 (BSS) - As many as 13,000 girls aged 10-14 and from grade five to nine would be provided Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine to prevent cervical cancer.
In this regard, an advocacy meeting for the chiefs of academic institutions of the upazila held at the hall room of Sadullapur Health Complex of the district on Monday.
Upazila health and family planning officer (UHFPO) Dr. Shahinul Islam Mondal presided over the meeting while UNO Kaosar Habib attended the function as the chief guest and upazila secondary education officer Abul Hossain and officer-in-charge of Sadullapur Thana Taaz Uddin were present as the special guests.
UHFPO Dr. Shahinul Islam Mondal said as many as 13,000 girls aged 10-14 would be given HPV Vaccine to protect them from cervical cancer.
This vaccine would be given free through registration in 18 working days from October 24 to November 23, he added.
The girls who are out of schools would also be brought under the program of HPV vaccine, he said.
